The Boston Gardeners Council (BGC) is a citywide program of the Boston Natural Areas Network (BNAN) composed of and representing self-selected volunteer community gardeners from the Boston metropolitan area.

The BGC seeks to bring together and be a unified voice for gardeners and gardens from all of Boston’s neighborhoods, working to create and maintain a permanent, sustainable community garden system. We see the gardens as integral to Boston’s larger environmental system as parks and playgrounds, included in city planning and receiving regular municipal support and services. We seek to make it possible for every neighborhood to have access to a garden, where residents of all ages, socio-economic backgrounds, and cultures can enjoy the benefits of healthy food, recreation and community beautification, with neighbors working together for their common interest.
